SkinRx Lab's MadeCera Cream is a K-Beauty Must Buy and Here's Why
After Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Cream became a firm hydration favourite and a go-to product in my beauty cabinet, I decided to hunt around online for a similar and maybe slightly less expensive cream and stumbled upon Soko Glam’s prettiest pink addition SKINRx Lab's MadeCera Cream. I'll admit I'm a total sucker for packaging, so I was all but sold when I saw the barbie pink tube. Then, I started to read the ingredient list and a few of the rave reviews online and thought it would be worth trying out this new kid on the k-beauty block to see if it lived up to the hype.
THE K-BEAUTY cRAZE
South Korean beauty has taken the world by storm in the last few years with ever increasing shelf space at global brands such as Sephora. There seems to be a new k-beauty product launched every week with genuinely intriguing and innovative ingredients - think bee venom, snail secretions, birds nest, pig collagen, horse oil, placenta, and even salmon eggs!!
Aside from some of the more creative products, K-beauty has made a big ol' beauty mark on the world with the 10-step skin care regime (trust me it works) bringing the use of essences, oil cleansers, under-eye patches, sheet masks and more to the mainstream. If you haven't heard of the 10-step regime, you can read about it here and here, and step nine ‘Moisturizer’ is where SKINRx Lab's MadeCera Cream steps in.
SKINRx have been around since 2003, beginning as an online Korean cosmetic shopping mall and launching their own skincare brand SKINRx Lab in 2015. The brand focuses on products that address skin damage caused by ageing, environmental stressors, and lifestyle, and the MadeCera cream is no exception. Formulated with ceramide3 (restores skin moisture barrier), madecassoside (anti ageing plant-based antioxidant), niacinamide (brightening, redness and pigmentation) and adenosine (skin restoring and anti ageing), the cream is geared to target multiple signs of aging and has proven to be a fan favourite:
Whilst I've only tried the single product from SKINRx Lab at this point, there are a number of other products from their MadeCera Re-turn range including the below - all of which I’m keen to try out soon:

TEXTURE & SCENT
As soon as my order arrived from Soko Glam, I excitedly ripped it open and tried it as both a day cream and a night cream - as recommended on the packaging - to see how well it would sit underneath makeup and how hydrating it would be overnight.
Similar to (old packaging) Dr Jart+ Ceramidin Cream, it comes in a metal tube and is easy to dispense. The texture is also similar, it's buttery and thick although less tacky on the skin and therefore a little lighter overall. The formula is white in colour, feels very hydrating and melts into the skin once applied. For night use I found it quite hydrating, and I woke up with lovely soft skin although to be fair I do also have to credit the 2-3 serums I regularly layered underneath it. For day use on my oily / combo skin I applied a toner, serums then the MadeCera Cream and let it soak in between 2-5 mins before applying an SPF, a heavy duty primer (because I'm super oily mmmmkay) and then makeup. Whilst it does leave a stickiness on the skin, it didn't cause any issues to how my makeup sat during the day - in fact it seemed to help it adhere to my skin. Winner.
The cream has a floral-y sweet scent and whilst I'm not a huge fan of heavily scented beauty product other than perfume, the good news is that the scent isn't super strong and fades quickly after being applied to the skin. If you're sensitive to fragrances definitely patch test this one first before applying.
It took me a good 2.5 months to get through the tube, so overall considering the size and price of it - it was worth the $36USD investment. It’s great at hydrating and works well for a day / night cream and is also a good size for travel or weekends away.
Did I love it as much as Dr Jart+ Ceramidin? Yes, and no for one reason: it’s a lighter emollient texture to Dr Jart+. So I suppose it depends on what mood I’m in and whether I need that extra k-pow of moisture whether I reach for this cream over the other. Overall, it’s a solid contender for the top moisturizer spot and I’ll definitely be re-purchasing a second tube soon!
★★★★ out of 5
Pros: Hydrating, light but creamy texture
Cons: If you have skin sensitivities to perfume or prefer no scent
